Dry Eye Surgery

There is a huge population of dogs who are suffering from severe dry eye. I first treat them medically and check if the symptoms get better within 2 months. If there is no change in the condition, then we recommend a surgical procedure called buccal mucosa transplant.

In this procedure, a small button of mucosa from the mouth is removed and transplanted into the conjunctiva of the eye. Though the tear production doesn’t increase, the eye becomes comfortable and the signs of dry eye significantly improve.
