Dr. Paola Rodas

Veterinary Ophthalmology Resident | General Practitioner | Pet Behavior Specialist

Dr. Paola Rodas, a passionate veterinarian from México whose lifelong love for animals has shaped an inspiring career in veterinary medicine. From rescuing street animals in her childhood to developing specialized veterinary hospitals across countries, her journey reflects deep compassion and dedication.

Dr. Paola completed her Bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Medicine, Surgery, and Animal Husbandry from Universidad Autónoma de Chiapas, México. During her early years, she worked as a junior veterinary assistant and joined the microbiology research team at ZOOMAT, one of the largest wildlife conservation reserves in southern Mexico.

In 2005, she founded her own small animal clinic, officially recognized as a “Cat Friendly Clinic” by the International Society of Feline Medicine (ISFM). Alongside, she also established a dog training school, dedicating over 17 years to the study and practice of small animal behavior.

Her journey into ophthalmology began in 2010 after attending a lecture that sparked her fascination with eye care. Since then, she has pursued veterinary ophthalmology through continuous education, workshops, and professional training.

Between 2019 and 2021, Dr. Paola worked with Kelam, a non-profit organization, as a senior surgeon, conducting large-scale stray animal sterilization campaigns to protect wildlife populations around El Cañón del Sumidero, a renowned Mexican conservation reserve.

In 2022, she moved to Qatar to help develop a specialized veterinary hospital, where she practiced as a surgeon and general practitioner. Her diverse experiences in animal behavior, surgery, and ophthalmology—combined with her multicultural exposure—have shaped her belief that the bond between pets and their parents is deeply rooted in eye contact.

Today, at The Eye Vet, Dr. Paola continues to build on her passion for veterinary ophthalmology, dedicated to preserving vision and enhancing the special connection between pets and their families.

Outside of work, she enjoys nature walks, hiking, yoga, and is an avid sci-fi enthusiast.

Her journey is a true reflection of empathy, expertise, and an unwavering commitment to animal well-being.
